Christmas 2024!
This year, the Home-Start office will be closed from Friday 20th December 2024 until Monday 6th January 2025.
The Home-Start Deeside Alford and Strathdon charity shop (based in Alford) will be closed from Friday 20th December 2024 and will re-open on Monday 6th January 2025.
We hope everyone has a happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year.
Ewan Black - our new Ambassador!
We are so delighted to welcome Ewan Black as our new Home-Start Deeside, Alford and Strathdon Ambassador. Ewan is a London based actor, originally from Banchory, Aberdeenshire. He trained at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, where he won the Peter O’Toole Award. Ewan recently performed in Mark Rylance’s ‘Dr Semmelweis’ at Bristol Old Vic Theatre Royal & the West End. He has acted in numerous other productions, including Lord of the Rings, The Crown and most recently in Macbeth with Ralph Fiennes.
Ewan loves coming back to Banchory to spend time with family and friends and he says he is very excited to join the Home-Start family!

Rosie's retirement!
We wished our Rosie a happy retirement!
Shop volunteers were treated to a Christmas lunch to bid farewell to our lovely shop manager! Rosie has been such an asset to Home-Start Deeside, Alford & Strathdon and we wouldn’t have such a thriving little shop without her dedication to her post and team! While we know you won’t be a stranger, we will miss you and we cannot thank you enough.
Christmas Hampers from Banchory Cubs
Yet again we were so lucky to be selected to receive hampers from our local Cubs!
It never ceases to amaze us how generous the cubs and their families are at this time of year.
It is thanks to them that so many will have such a special Christmas!
